EDUCATION

  • Supports special education schools by providing transportation and education materials to students with special needs

  • Sign language school: Provides sign language classes to students and families with disabilities.

  • Early intervention program: ADISA visits families with young children with disabilities to stimulate excitement in learning and education.  

  • Informal education classes provided through workshops, discussions, and informal lectures

  • Parent-school: ADISA organizes monthly meetings with parents of children with disabilities. Discussion focuses on the topic of disability and how to empower and connect families with disabilities to the greater community.  

  • Psychology groups: ADISA staff provides emotional support to groups of children with disabilities so that they do not suffer emotional distress, bullying, etc.

  • Inclusive Education Training: Preps local teachers in diverse teaching methods so that they can accommodate students of all needs in their classrooms. This program is organized with the support of Guatemala’s ministry of education.

  • Supports students with disabilities by providing traveling assistance so that they may attend regular schools. ADISA believes strongly in inclusive education in both public and private schools.
